Designing for a native iOS app is different from designing a mobile web experience. There are specific guidelines and components used within the iOS system. Read over Apple's Human Interface Guideline for more clarification.
You can download iOS kits to incorporate existing iOS design elements in your work.
Screen Sizes
- Use the screen size that is most commonly used by your users. You can find this data by looking over your analytics.
- If you don't have access to this information, then refer to the following:
- If you’re designing an app for a general audience, use the overall most popular iPhone screen size: 375x667 pt
- If you’re designing an app for a tech- or design-savvy audience, the most popular iPhone screen size is likely the newer 375x812 pt
Page Layout
- You can recreate these "boxes" in your design, to consistently inform your designs and stray out of blind-spots. Or you can download this template and overlay it over your screens.
Status Bar
- The status bar can be either light/dark backgrounds or clear. It can also adopt a "frosted-glass" look by using the background blur effect (only works for the new status bar).
